Great app! Instead of having one long "strip" of 50 images for all variants, each variant now shows its own 5 images. Does exactly what you'd expect — simple, reliable, and solved our variant image problem perfectly. Highly recommended!

We have been using without issue for 4+ years. Works wonderfully and exactly as described. Very easy to setup on the product level. Many of our products will have 4+ variants with 5-8 images on each variant but with this app, our customers are not overwhelmed with 40+ images on one product! Their experience is clean and fast to load images as they select their choice.

This really gives our site a more customer-centric feel. Since we have so many variants and often multiple images per variant, this app allows us to limit images shown to the variant they have selected which is much less confusing for the consumer. PLUS we can still have lifestyle or other detail images that show across all variants, so it really tailors the experience perfectly for our product! The support from StarApps is always excellent and timely!

This app works for wall art variations. It fixes my variants so only the selected options show at once. For example, instead of showing all 47 of the variants that I have for each product, it shows just the one or two options based on the customer's choices). It's worth the price. It fixes tech that is not native to shopify. It definitely makes my site load faster and easier to understand by viewers. It took a lot of work to add so many variants to my site, and this app makes that work pay off! Thank you, developers.

What exactly does SA Variant Image Automator do?

It groups your product images by variant and shows only the relevant ones when a customer makes a selection. So when someone picks Red, the gallery instantly shows just the red images (front, back, close-up, lifestyle) with no page reload.

How is this different from Shopify's built-in variant images?

Shopify only lets you assign one image per variant, so selecting a variant just swaps that single image. This app lets you assign as many images as you want per variant (2, 5, 10 or more), so customers can see every angle of the option they're looking at.

How does the app know which images belong to which variant? Do I need to rename my files?

You don't need to rename anything. The app gives you a simple drag-and-drop setup: just drag images from your main gallery onto the variant they belong to. For most stores there's no manual tagging at all, and setup stays quick even with a large catalog.

It keeps your theme's existing gallery layout, zoom, and transitions, so it works with Shopify's free themes (Dawn, Craft, Sense and others), ThemeForest themes, and custom builds. It also works with page builders like GemPages, PageFly, and EComposer.

I'm already using another variant image app. Can I switch without losing my setup?

Yes. It supports migration from Rubik, VSlide, Variant Image Wizard, and SC Product Options, and it carries over your existing variant-image assignments so you don't have to start from scratch.
